Science Fair Information

This year for the second grade science fair project the students will be learning about the solar system and the newly discovered exoplanets. I will be teaching them about each planet and other fascist of the universe.

Each student will be assigned a planet or connected topic to research. Their homework is to write 2 paragraphs  about the topic. The finished work writing will be displayed on a small poster with the child´s drawing of the planet.

The two paragraph rough draft is due on February 10.

The completed poster is due on February 26. (the drawing must be made by the child ).The poster size is around 20 cm. long and 32 cm wide.

We will also be making a 3 dimensional solar system display. Each student is responsible for supplying the materials for the planet that they researched. These materials are due on February 17.

The materials needed for a  a 3D model of the Solar System you will need different size styrofoam balls, stryofoam base, acrylic paint.

Este año para el segundo proyecto de ciencias grado los estudiantes van a aprender sobre el sistema solar y los exoplanetas recientemente descubiertos . Voy a enseñar acerca de cada planeta y otra fascista del universo.
A cada estudiante se le asignará un planeta o conectado tema de investigación. Su tarea es escribir 2 párrafos sobre el tema. La escritura obra terminada se mostrará en un pequeño cartel con el dibujo del niño del planeta.

El borrador de dos párrafos es el 10 de febrero .

El cartel completo es debido el 26 de febrero . ( el dibujo debe ser hecha por el niño ) . El tamaño del cartel es de alrededor de 20 cm. de largo y 32 cm de ancho.

También vamos a hacer una presentación del sistema solar 3 dimensiones. Cada estudiante es responsable de suministrar los materiales para el planeta que se investigaron . Estos materiales se recibirán hasta el 17 de febrero.

Los materiales necesarios para  modelo 3D del Sistema Solar que necesitarán diferentes bolas de espuma de poliestireno de tamaño , base de stryofoam , pintura acrílica .

 The Solar System and Beyond Activities

Each child will write two paragraphs about a part of the solar system that will be assigned to them. These paragraphs will be added to a poster with an illustration of the planet. Each child will speak about the topic that they investigated during their presentation at the science fair.

The class will take a trip to the Planetarium. They will learn about our solar system and exoplanets.

A guest speaker will come to the class and speak to the students about the Solar System and the exoplanets.  Each child will ask one question as though they were researching an article. The questions and the answers will be compiled and displayed at the science fair.

Each child will make a 3 dimensional planet using a Styrofoam ball and acrylic paint. The model will be attached to a base with a wooden stick and displayed at the science fair.

The teacher will lecture about each planet and the discovery of exoplanets. She will use age appropriate websites, videos and books.
